The Justice Department charged 17 Iranians with conducting a massive cyber theft campaign on behalf of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and other Iranian entities.
On Aug. 18 in a 14-count superseding indictment, the Justice Department (DOJ) charged members of the Iran-based Mabna Institute for hundreds of cyber intrusions into universities, government agencies, and private-sector companies in the United States and abroad since at least 2013.
“Today’s charges show that neither sophistication nor geographic boundaries will deter us from protecting the national security of our country from those who target the United States from abroad,” U.S. Attorney Jamie McDonald said….
