Chinese state actors were using Claude to surveil dissident and religious communities, including practitioners of the faith group Falun Gong and NTD, The Epoch Times’ sister media outlet, tech company Anthropic said in a report.
The Chinese state-aligned actors targeted groups that Beijing has historically suppressed, using its artificial intelligence (AI) model to build dossiers on religious leaders and identify potential levers for the regime to exploit, according to Anthropic’s Sept. 10 threat intelligence report.
