A Republican-led House investigation says the ActBlue fundraising platform used by the Democratic Party maintained inadequate safeguards against illegal foreign political donations.
The report, released Wednesday by the House Judiciary, Administration, and Oversight and Government Reform committees, examines the fundraising platform’s passport checks, fraud reviews, and handling of internal concerns.
ActBlue has disputed the claims, calling them a “political stunt.”
According to the report, ActBlue supervisors repeatedly instructed fraud analysts to give donors “the benefit of the doubt,” even when transactions displayed indicators of possible foreign or fraudulent activity.
In one example, an employee recommended accepting a contribution despite mismatched IP and billing information, a foreign credit card, an unusual email domain, and a browser fingerprint connected to previously rejected donors….
