The Federal Reserve raised interest rates a quarter point Wednesday, the first time in three years, saying inflation is still too high. President Donald Trump has been fighting against this move, instead asking the Fed to cut rates.
European Union President Ursula von der Leyen invited Canada to be the first associate member in the union’s history. The proposed status currently does not exist in EU laws or treaties. Trump has previously accused both the EU and Canada of unfair trade practices, with the EU abusing its trade deficit with the United States and Canada banning certain American goods.
