A heavy thunderstorm in the Toronto area has led to flooding and damages to buildings, while many remain without power.
Environment Canada issued an alert on Sept. 2 afternoon warning of torrential rain and large hail in southern Ontario, urging residents to take cover in a basement or interior room if they’re in affected areas.
Toronto Hydro said approximately 65,000 customers remain without power.
“We are responding to reported hazards, including downed power lines and damaged electrical equipment, while co-ordinating restoration efforts across the city,” the company said in a social media post.
