Alberta residents now have until Oct. 31 to apply for a one-time $100 energy rebate after the provincial government extended the deadline by one month.
The Alberta Energy Rebate was introduced in June to help offset high everyday costs including for fuel and energy over the summer months from July to September. The original application period was from July 1 to Sept. 30, and a household with two eligible adults could receive up to $200.
The rebate replaced Alberta’s Fuel Tax Relief Program for that 3-month period while the province continued collecting its 13-cent-per-litre fuel tax at the pumps. Alberta then announced mid-September that it would fully suspend its provincial fuel tax from Oct. 1 until the end of the year, thereby providing direct relief at the pumps….
