US Intercepts Nearly $3 Million in Illegal Fuel Shipments Headed to Cuba

The United States seized 90 biodiesel shipments worth more than $2.8 million that were part of an attempt to illegally export fuel to Cuba.
Last month, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) identified biodiesel shipments being exported from the country, specifically from Port Everglades in Florida and the Port of Houston in Texas, to ENETEC S.A., a Cuban wholesaler engaged in trading fuel. Law enforcement agencies sought to have the shipments detained.
In total, 71 shipments of around 496,000 gallons of biodiesel were seized at Port Everglades, and 19 shipments of roughly 119,000 gallons were detained at the Port of Houston, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) said in a statement on Oct. 7….
